Who we are
“This disorder, not only almost cost me my life, it robbed me of my quality of life for over 25 years. Whilst I am incredibly lucky to have survived PMDD, I know how many will not be." – Brie Moore, Founder
Premenstrual Disorders Australia seeks to increase awareness of PMDD & PME within the general public to reach the 90% of the 5-8% of women and individuals assigned female at birth, unknowingly living with PMDD & PME, nationally.
Advocating at a national level, PMDA will be a voice for all Australian's impacted by PMDD & PME. Drawing attention to the urgent need for specific support services, PMDA will lobby at a state and federal level for the necessary systems of support and health care initiatives to be implemented in both the mental health and medical sectors at a state and federal level. PMDA aims to ensure that PMDD & PME patients, their carers & families have solid, well-embedded systems of support, ensuring the constant improvement of long-term quality of life outcomes.
Targeting and engaging sector & industry leaders in women's health; mental health, medicine, research & science - PMDA will campaign for a future where improved menstrual-mental health education and awareness leads to earlier diagnosis & intervention; increased mental health support, advanced medical & scientific understanding towards improved treatment options & outcomes - with the intention to see Australia sets the international gold-standard of PMD support, treatment and care.
Uniting alongside of our global affiliate, the International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD), Premenstrual Disorders Australia will propel and further strengthen the combined efforts of the PMD Community - a bright future, hope and a cure.
Our story
“Although I have finished my marathon, I cannot forget all those I left behind. They are the reason I choose not to cross my finish line and instead, I cheer.
I cheer for each and every one of them with all that I am, so that they know, they too, can and will - one day cross their finish line." – Brie Moore, Founder
Launched in 2023 by our Founder, Brie Moore, Premenstrual Disorders Australia is the first Australian body to represent, advocate and support individuals and families affected by the hormone-based mood disorders - Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder and Premenstrual Exacerbation.
